The strength of Kallo’s program delivery model lies in the customized education & training programs provided for each client. In partnership with leading North American universities and health institutions, Kallo University develops and delivers curricula specific to client requirements utilizing the expertise provided by specialists and educators. The objective of Kallo University is to augment existing regional education and training programs, establish international standards for healthcare delivery, and increase the resource capacity of the local healthcare workforce.

Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Director – Education & Training will lead the design and implementation of education curricula and learning delivery programs to accelerate and ensure the effective knowledge transfer regarding Kallo’s products, services and solutions across our employee base, partner ecosystem and customer community. The primary charter of this role will be transforming our educational offerings into a “best-practices” based global learning and knowledge organization

Kallo’s education and training programs will encompass five key areas.

  • Clinical skills, care protocols for physicians, nurses and other health professionals
  • IT solutions (clinical, administrative, financial, digital devices)
  • Engineering – systems, mechanical & biomedical as applicable to Kallo’s facilities and equipment
  • Engineering – systems, mechanical & biomedical as applicable to Kallo’s facilities and equipment
  • Operations e.g. supply chain; materials management.

The Director of Education & Training will work with Kallo leads for each of these areas in evolving the program to address these critical areas to ensure Kallo’s success in establishing a work force in-country that has the requisite knowledge and skills to maintain systems and services over the longer term after Kallo’s contractual obligations are concluded.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee an Education & Training team that will be responsible for:
    • creating evaluation criteria and conducting environmental scans and gap analyses to identify organizational, business and operational learning needs
    • program design and management
    • setting standards for content development which apply adult learning theory
    • assessing and prescribing appropriate delivery modes
    • conducting annual learning needs assessments for all product lines, geographies and stakeholders
  • Link education/training programs to organizational results.
  • In conjunction with other business owners, manage overall education budget including engagement of outside suppliers, internal resource allocation, and program expenses.
  • Closely coordinate with other Kallo product and service teams to ensure that the program is informed by work stream activities and gap analyses findings.
  • Ensure the program clearly connects to Kallo’s in-house staff development needs and in-country needs of staff working in Kallo clinics, hospitals and associated facilities.
  • Assess Learning Management Systems and related technologies to identify the most appropriate learning management tools.
  • Leverage the learning management system to communicate programs, register participants, track attendance and where appropriate, create individual development plans.
  • Present educational seminars/workshops, boot camps face-to-face or via remote learning e.g. tele-education; online delivery (synchronous; asynchronous).
  • Create or adopt/adapt existing certification processes for Kallo’s education and training programs.
  • Review evaluations of training courses, objectives, and accomplishments; Identify/incorporate lessons learned and best practices into program plans.
  • Assess effectiveness of training in terms of employee accomplishments and performance.
  • In collaboration with Kallo’s Total Quality Management (TQM) program:
    • ensure timely access to and management of key knowledge assets.
    • develop and implement processes for measurement e.g. reports/dashboards/analytics, to serve as inputs for assessing and optimizing Kallo’s investment in education and training.
    • Working with other business owners, manage overall education budget including engagement of outside suppliers, internal resource allocation, and program expenses.
    • Establish global training policies, processes and procedures.
    • Serve as education liaison to external customers including professional organizations, and the business and educational community.
    • Establish communications in regard to education program activities, including status reporting, risk management, and deliverables.

Key Deliverables during First 12 to 24 Months

  • Lead the development of an education framework and roadmap for effective and efficient learning, incorporating blended learning approaches.
  • Develop strategic plans for driving value through education, training and learning.
  • Develop strategic working relationships with Kallo staff and clients including clinicians and SMEs to facilitate and support development of relevant, targeted education and training materials.
  • Lead the development of RPP criteria for Learning Management Software and Authoring Tools for creating learning artefacts.
  • Lead the development of various educational materials e.g. lesson plans, learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides, and tools/toolkits to support educational initiatives.
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education – adult education with a focus on health education and health IT preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health professional field, health sciences or health informatics a definite asset.
  • Experience, knowledge and/or education in computer science, computer programming or related health technology field an asset.
  • Formal training in instructional design and content delivery desired.
  • At least 5 years of experience building and managing corporate learning programs in a global organization.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
  • Proven capability in directly managing instructional content design and delivery staff as well as training program administration staff.
  • Sound understanding and demonstrated experience in the delivery of knowledge management practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and operationalizing learning management systems and eLearning tools on a global scale.
  • Ability to facilitate leadership discussions and build consensus around a strategic direction.
  • Proven ability to build a business case for learning/knowledge transfer programs while tracking and demonstrating ROI.
  • Ability to work with field offices considering cross-cultural sensitivities and respect at all times.
  • Experience with a multinational organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Strong execution ability, with an energetic ‘can-do’ team player attitude, and an ability to drive and manage change is important.
  • Travel will be required to customer sites and Kallo office locations.
