Position Overview
The Senior Manager – Biomedical & Clinical Engineering will apply engineering principles and technology to healthcare. This includes researching, designing and developing innovative methods in installation, operations management and maintenance support of medical and clinical equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
Executing manufacturers’ preventive / breakdown maintenance, calibration services for all medical equipment and devices in Kallo’s Mobile Clinic & Rural Clinic production facility in Canada and onsite (Internationally).
Accountabilities
- Provide high quality, cost-effective biomedical and clinical engineering and technology management services to our customers.
- To review the medical technology profile, identify any problem areas and risk exposure, and provide solutions for short and long-term improvement of biomedical and clinical engineering and technology support.
- Provide clinical application support.
- Complete pre-installation requirements as required by the manufacturers for Mobile and Rural clinics.
- Directly responsible for:
- Planned and Corrective Maintenance
- Calibration of Medical Equipment
- Patient, Staff and Environment safety
- Breakdown Services and Maintenance
- Application and operation support
- Risk Management
- Codes and Standards adherence for International compliance
- JCAHO Comprehensive Accreditation Manual
- AABB
- NFPA 99
- Gas and Vacuum Systems
- Electrical Systems
- FDA
- SMDA
- OSHA
Key Deliverables during First 12 to 24 Months
- Assume Departmental Leadership or Mentor Existing Leadership
- Process Improvement (Testing, Installation, training, maintenance management)
- Develop and Enhance "Customer" Relationships
- Provide Staff Support – Clinical Command Center at Global Response Center
- Regulatory compliance and standards
- Best practices
- Equipment purchasing including Maintenance blue book reference.
- Contract consulting and consolidation
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Engineering with Medical Equipment specialization with 5 years experience or Diploma in Electronics or Medical Equipment technology with 10 years experience.
- Experience in handling multi-disciplinary and multi-modality medical equipment in diagnostic and treatment environment.
- Experience in Networking, DICOM, HL&, IHE and other medical device interfaces.
- International travel required.
- Experience working with Medical Equipment manufacturer or Service support organizations.
